7 Column Live Stream Monitor Launched for Hurricane Issac

Covert Contact - Live Streaming Social Media Intelligence - Hurricane Issac

We could be looking at a pretty significant hurricane once Issac gets into the Gulf of Mexico. This has been a difficult storm for forecasters to pin down and that unpredictability continues this morning with some of the models shifting further west. Here’s the latest discussion from the National Hurricane Center:

THE TRACK FORECAST BEYOND DAY 2 HAS BECOME PROBLEMATIC. DYNAMICAL MODELS DEPICT THE CYCLONE MOVING INTO A BREAK IN THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE NORTH OF THE GULF COAST IN ABOUT 72 HOURS. HOWEVER THERE IS A LARGE SPREAD AMONG THE MORE RELIABLE TRACK MODELS. FOR EXAMPLE… THE ECMWF FORECAST IS ABOUT 300 N MI EAST OF THE GFS SOLUTION AT DAY 3. SINCE THE DYNAMICAL MODEL CONSENSUS HAS SHIFTED WESTWARD…THE OFFICIAL TRACK FORECAST IS MOVED A BIT TO THE WEST OF THE PREVIOUS ONE. THIS REQUIRES AN EXTENSION OF THE HURRICANE WATCH WESTWARD ALONG THE LOUISIANA COAST. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THERE IS GREATER THAN USUAL UNCERTAINTY IN THE TRACK FORECAST.

In short, nobody knows where Issac is headed. Everyone on the Gulf Coast should be paying attention to this storm. Luckily, we have just launched a new 7 column Hurricane Issac Monitor to help you do just that. This monitor features live streams tracking:

  • Any mentions of Hurricane Issac
  • Hurricane Warnings
  • Discussions about Hurricane Issac’s storm surge
  • Discussions about Hurricane Issac’s winds
  • Hurricane Issac damage discussions
  • Mentions of deaths or injuries related to Hurricane Issac
  • Mentions of the National Hurricane Center

If you want to know what’s happening – up to the second – with Hurricane Issac this monitor will do it for you.

Mass Killing Monitor Tracking Empire State Shooting in New York City

Covert Contact - Live Streaming Social Media Intelligence - Mass Shooting Monitor

Another crazed gunman – this time in New York City:

Police say two people, including the suspected shooter, are dead and at least one other person was shot when gunfire erupted outside the Empire State Building Friday morning. At least eight people were hurt in the melee, possibly in a stampede away from the gunfire.

Police responding opened fire on the suspect, killing him, sources said.

A law-enforcement official said the shooting did not appear to be terror-related, and the gunman may have been a disgruntled employee who was fired Thursday from his job inside the building.

The Mass Killings Monitor that we rolled out after the recent Sikh temple shooting is tracking this event. The monitor looks for incidents of mass shootings, mass killings, and hostage situations.

Julian Assange Live Streams

Covert Contact - Live Streaming Social Media Intelligence - Julian Assange

Assange spoke to supporters and the press from the window of Ecuador’s London embassy.

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange portrayed himself Sunday as a victim of an American “witch hunt” over his secret-spilling website in a defiant address from the balcony of an embassy where he has holed up to avoid extradition to face sex assault allegations.

Surrounded by British police who want to detain him, Assange made no mention of the sex assault case in Sweden or how long he would remain in Ecuador’s embassy in London, where he took refuge two months ago. Instead he shifted focus to the U.S., accusing the government of targeting him for revealing a trove of American diplomatic and military secrets.

Julian Assange granted political asylum by Ecuador: WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange makes his first public appearance in two months after being granted asylum Thursday by Ecuador, raising the possibility of a diplomatic showdown between British and Ecuadoran authorities.

Monitoring the Israeli-Iranian Conflict – First Strikes, Iranian Missiles, and War

Covert Contact - Live Streaming Social Media Intelligence - Iranian-Israeli Conflict

Media reports and Israeli government officials have been leaking, hinting, warning, and sometimes screaming about an “imminent” strike on Iran for as long as we can remember but the talk has grown a bit more serious in recent days:

Israeli leaders, who have long issued veiled threats against Iran, now appear to be preparing the country for war. New gas mask distribution centers have opened, a nationwide missile alert system has been tested and an official this week warned of hundreds of casualties if Israel unilaterally strikes Iran.

The heightened rhetoric has fueled jitters that the zero hour is near. But there are also growing signs of discontent with the government’s approach, with critics accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his defense minister, Ehud Barak, of recklessly plunging Israel into an unprecedented missile war.

With this in mind we’ve rolled out an Iranian-Israeli Conflict Monitor on subscriber’s “Topics” menu. This monitor looks at the Iranian missile threat from the Israeli perspective, talk of an Israeli first strike, and general discussion about war between the two countries.

Ryan, appearing at the beginning of a four-day, four-state bus tour in Norfolk, moved quickly to position himself and Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, as champions of voters dissatisfied with the economy.
